Pune: Gold Jewellery Worth ₹11 Lakh Stolen at Baby Shower in Shivane, Police Launch Probe
A festive family gathering turned into a nightmare for a Mumbai-based woman after gold jewellery worth ₹11 lakh was stolen during a baby shower event held in Pune’s Shivane area. The Uttamnagar Police have registered a case against unidentified individuals and launched an investigation into the theft.
The incident took place on April 20, when the 43-year-old complainant travelled from Tardeo in Mumbai to Pune to attend her cousin’s daughter’s baby shower. The celebration was hosted at a function hall inside the Aryak Residency Society in Shivane, where the cousin resides.
According to police sources, the woman had securely packed her gold ornaments in a red box, which she then placed inside a blue bag for safekeeping. After the ceremony concluded, she accompanied her family to her cousin’s residence nearby. It was only after arriving there that she realised the jewellery had gone missing from her bag.
Following her return to Mumbai, the woman contacted Pune police and lodged an official complaint. Assistant Police Inspector Amruta Chavare from Uttamnagar Police Station is currently leading the investigation.
Police are examining CCTV footage from the venue and nearby areas to identify potential suspects. No arrests have been made yet, and the investigation is ongoing.
