Pune–Gorakhpur Summer Special Extended Till July; Central Railway Expands Seasonal Train Network
Rising passenger demand during the summer months has prompted Central Railway to strengthen its special train operations, including an extension of the daily service between Pune and Gorakhpur along with a broader schedule covering multiple long-distance routes.
The Pune–Gorakhpur Summer Special (Train No. 01415) will continue operating daily from May 15 to July 15, 2026, adding 62 extra trips. The train departs from Pune Junction at 06:50 hrs and reaches Gorakhpur at 16:00 hrs the next day.
For the return journey, Train No. 01416 Gorakhpur–Hadapsar Special will run from May 16 to July 16, 2026, also completing 62 additional trips. It leaves Gorakhpur at 17:30 hrs and arrives at Hadapsar railway station at 03:15 hrs on the third day.
Each train will run with 18 ICF coaches, including one AC 2-tier, five AC 3-tier, six sleeper class coaches, four general second class coaches, and two guard-cum-luggage vans. Reservations for the extended Pune departures will open on April 26, 2026, via PRS counters and the IRCTC website. Unreserved tickets for general coaches will be available through the UTS system, both online and at stations, at standard fares applicable to mail and express trains.
Passengers are encouraged to check halt timings and updates through official railway enquiry platforms such as the NTES mobile application before starting their journey.

Travel Advisory
With assembly elections scheduled across states such as West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Assam, and Puducherry, these additional train services are expected to assist passengers traveling to their hometowns.
Attention is also drawn to boarding points, as several trains originate from Hadapsar rather than Pune Junction. Verifying departure stations in advance can help avoid last-minute confusion.
