Pune: Green Peas Prices Drop To ₹40-₹50 Per Kg As Supply Increases
Pune, February 10, 2025: The supply of green peas from other states has increased, leading to a significant drop in prices. In the retail market, green peas are now available at ₹40 to ₹50 per kilogram, while wholesale rates have fallen to ₹25-₹30 per kg.
Madhya Pradesh is a major producer of green peas, and after Bhogi and Makar Sankranti, the demand for peas has decreased. Currently, 12 to 14 truckloads of green peas arrive daily at Pune’s Market Yard, and on Sundays, the supply nearly doubles. Fifteen days ago, the wholesale price of green peas was ₹50 per kg.
With the increased supply from other states, further price reductions are expected. Rajasthan’s green pea season is set to begin soon, which may bring down prices even more. Due to lower rates, the food processing industry is actively purchasing green peas, storing them in cold storage for year-round sales.
