Pune : Hinjawadi Residents Frustrated By Lengthy Traffic Delays, Call For Urgent Remedies
On March 20, commuters in Pune’s Hinjawadi, a vital hub for the country’s IT sector, were stranded in an unrelenting traffic jam on Phase 2 Road for more than two hours. Residents and commuters are requesting immediate solutions to the worsening situation as a result of the congestion, which has been described as a total chokehold on all lanes and is being made worse by ongoing metro construction projects. Not only did the traffic jams disrupt thousands of people’s daily lives, but they also brought attention to the wider infrastructure problems that the region is confronting.
Hinjawadi is one of the biggest IT hubs in India, but its roads and transit infrastructure have not kept up with demand, causing the local workforce—whose living standards have declined—to express disapproval and worry.

As per further information from the X handle of a commuter “The traffic situation in Hinjawadi is worsening day by day. I now understand why multinational companies are considering leaving Hinjawadi. The cause of this traffic is either a breakdown of city buses on narrow roads or traffic police stopping random cars for various reasons.”

The predicament faced by commuters in Hinjawadi is a reflection of a bigger problem: infrastructure and urban planning are not keeping up with the quick expansion of business and industry. The region continues to bring in a lot of money, so there’s an increasing need for stakeholders and local governments to give priority to traffic management and prioritized infrastructure solutions.
