Pune Hospital IED Scare: Suspect Seen Arriving On Electric Vehicle, CCTV Footage Surfaces
Pune, May 14, 2026: A major breakthrough has emerged in the investigation into the IED scare at a reputed hospital in Pune’s Hadapsar area, after CCTV footage captured the suspect allegedly responsible for placing the explosive device inside the premises.
According to police officials, the suspect arrived at the hospital on an electric Ola vehicle and was seen entering the building before allegedly placing the bomb-like object. Investigators are now using the CCTV footage to trace and identify the accused, with search operations underway on a war footing.
The incident created panic after a suspicious object, later identified as a low-grade Improvised Explosive Device (IED), was found inside the men’s washroom located near the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital. The discovery raised serious concerns over the safety of patients, relatives, and hospital staff in the busy medical facility.
Amitesh Kumar confirmed that the object was a “low-grade IED.” Following the alert, the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) rushed to the spot and safely secured the device.
The bomb squad later transported the device to an isolated area near the Gliding Centre, where it was successfully defused at around 11 pm without causing any damage or injuries.
Multiple agencies, including Pune Police, the Crime Branch, and the Anti-Terrorism Squad, are jointly investigating the case. Officials are now probing the motive behind planting the IED and whether a larger network or conspiracy is involved.
The incident has once again raised concerns about security and law-and-order preparedness in Pune amid a series of recent criminal incidents in the city.
