Pune: Injured Peacock Rescued Near Charholi During Wari; Vikram Bhosale Urges Devotees To Stay Alert
Pune, June 19, 2025: During the Sant Dnyaneshwar And Sant Tukaram Maharaj Palkhi procession today near Charholi Budruk’s Pathare Mala, a wounded peacock was spotted. The information was immediately sent to Vikram Bhosale, Founder and President of Life Protection and Conservation Trust. Bhosale promptly rushed to the location and rescued the peacock.
Upon examination, the bird was found completely drenched in rain, with its feathers soaked, which prevented it from flying. After the initial rescue, the incident was reported to the Forest Department, and the peacock was released back into a safe, natural environment. Bhosale stated that the peacock flew from the forest area towards a nearby housing society. But he couldnt move out due to fear and since it was raining heavily it got totally drenched in the rain water.
In a message to devotees gathered for the Sant Tukaram Maharaj and Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj Palkhi processions, Bhosale appealed for vigilance. He noted that several snakes have been rescued in the area over the past few days, including species such as the Indian cobra, common krait (Ghonas), Russell’s viper (Taksar), virula, and checkered keelback (Kavdya Manyar).
Devotees are urged to remain cautious during the Wari, especially in areas near vegetation and water bodies.
In case of wildlife sightings or emergencies, the public is encouraged to immediately contact the Life Protection and Conservation Trust on the following number: 9689843326.
