Pune: IT Employees Help 14-Year-Old Accident Victim Get Timely Care After Hinjawadi Crash
Pune, January 27, 2026: A group of Pune-based IT professionals stepped in to help a 14-year-old boy injured in a road accident at Rajiv Gandhi IT Park, Hinjawadi, after delays were reported in providing him emergency medical treatment.
The incident took place on Sunday morning around 10 am, when a truck, allegedly operating during restricted hours for heavy vehicles, hit the minor, who was selling balloons in the area. The impact left the child with serious leg injuries, requiring urgent medical attention.
Members of the Forum of IT Employees (FITE), including its president Pavanjit Mane and other members, rushed to the spot and assisted the injured child. The boy was initially taken to Astha Hospital in Pirangut, where he was not admitted. He was later shifted to Symbiosis Hospital in Sus, but was referred elsewhere due to the unavailability of an ICU bed and a vascular surgeon.
The child eventually reached Sancheti Hospital around 1.30 pm. However, treatment was reportedly delayed, with the family facing financial constraints. Despite this, the hospital provided preliminary care while efforts were made to arrange further treatment.
Following intervention by FITE, Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) Commissioner Dr Yogesh Mhase coordinated with Dr Parag Sancheti, ensuring that the child’s treatment began without further delay. FITE members also ensured that lack of funds did not prevent the child from receiving medical care.
Meanwhile, the truck driver was taken into custody, and a case of rash and negligent driving has been registered at the Hinjawadi Police Station. An investigation into the incident is underway.
The incident has once again highlighted the need for faster emergency response and priority treatment for accident victims in the city.
