Pune: Joint Meeting Of Schools And Colleges From Lonavala Held To Address Increasing Attacks On MinorsÂ

In order to address the increase in reports of sexual assaults against minors, the Pune Rural Police Force organized a significant joint meeting on August 22nd. The meeting involved officials from Lonavala City, Lonavala Rural, Kamshet, and Vadgaon Maval Police Stations, all of which fall under the jurisdiction of the Pune Rural Police.
The gathering was attended by school and college principals, administrative staff, female teachers, and other key officials from the police administration. This initiative was led by Satyasai Karthik, the Assistant Superintendent of Police for the Lonavala Division, who emphasized the importance of addressing the safety concerns of students. The primary objective of the meeting was to discuss and implement safety guidelines aimed at protecting both male and female students in educational institutions. The discussion focused on preventive measures and ensuring a safer environment for students across the region.
Here are the key instructions that were provided:
1) Install CCTV cameras throughout the school and ensure they are monitored regularly.
2) Set up a complaint box in a secure area of the school and check it frequently.
3) Install CCTV cameras in areas of the school that are considered vulnerable.
4) Create a student safety committee and establish counseling rooms.
5) Install CCTV cameras at all entrances and exits, implement a PA system, and utilize it for safety announcements.
6) Conduct regular reviews of student safety in schools and colleges through initiatives like Police Dada, Police Didi, Nirbhaya Squad, and Police Patrolling.
7) Establish a Women Vigilance Committee to address the challenges faced by female students.
8) It is necessary to verify the eligibility of every staff member, including wardens, staff, cleaners, bus drivers, and security guards.
9) Inspect the pan stalls and shops near schools and colleges.
10) Increase police patrols around school and college areas.
11) Monitor the entrances of schools and colleges for outside individuals and suspicious persons.
12) Establish a control room in schools and colleges that will monitor the area through CCTV.
13) Raise awareness among students about the increasing drug issues in schools and colleges and provide counseling, working through campaigns for drug rehabilitation.
By addressing these topics, police officers and personnel have been assigned to each school and college. These measures are being implemented to prevent such unfortunate incidents from occurring. The increased presence of law enforcement aims to enhance safety and security for students and staff alike, ensuring a safer learning environment.
