• A well-equipped building will be constructed on 8,000 sq ft

The long-standing demand of journalists in Pune has been fulfilled today. A spacious and fully equipped building will be constructed on this land.

This land, measuring around 8,015.07 sq ft (744.62 sq. m.), is located in Pune city (Mauje Bhamburda, T.P.1, Final Plot No. 881/A). As per Section 40 of the Maharashtra Land Revenue Code, 1966, and Rules 50 and 51 of the Maharashtra Land Revenue (Disposal of Government Lands) Rules, 1971, it has been decided to provide this land for commercial purpose under Occupancy Class-2, by recovering its value as per the prevalent ready reckoner rate and granting possession rights subject to terms and conditions.

After the decision, Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule stated that through the Pune Patrakar Pratisthan, several development and welfare activities are conducted throughout the year for journalists. These include various training programmes for skill development, activities for journalists and their families, health camps, study tours, medical check-ups, distribution of school supplies for journalists’ children, capacity-building programmes for women members, lectures, and interactive sessions.

In recent years, the scope of the organisation’s activities has significantly expanded. With the growth of media, the membership has also risen substantially. Due to this expansion, the current premises of the organisation have become inadequate for conducting welfare activities, capacity development programmes, and for operating a health club for journalists.

For various programmes and lectures organised by the Pratisthan, ministers from the Centre and State, judges, senior administrative officials, senior editors, and journalists frequently visit the premises. Therefore, the organisation was in urgent need of a new and larger space, and hence this land has been allotted to them.
