Pune, June 25, 2025: Ongoing and repeated digging work on the Dmart Lane near Gold Adlabs Chowk in Kalyaninagar has sparked outrage among local residents, who say the poor condition of the road has turned into a safety hazard, especially during the monsoon.

According to residents, this is the fifth or sixth time such digging activity has taken place on this stretch. Each time, the work is either delayed or abandoned without proper restoration. The patchwork that follows leaves the road uneven and riddled with potholes, putting both pedestrians and motorists at risk.

“The road is now in a miserable state, and the uneven surface poses a major risk of accidents. We are forced to navigate broken patches and slippery surfaces during rains,” said Kalyaninagar resident Haresh Bharwani, who also shared evidence of the poor quality of the work as well as negligence by PMC over the damaged road.

What has further irked citizens is the complete lack of transparency. “There is no signage indicating which company is carrying out the work, no timeline for completion, and no contact information for the contractor. We are left in the dark with zero accountability,” Bharwani added.

Residents are now demanding that the authorities stop resorting to temporary patchwork and lay a properly finished road once and for all. They have urged Pune Municipal Corporation and other concerned agencies to step in, ensure better coordination, and prioritize safety.
