In a community meeting on Tuesday, thousands of Katraj residents expressed frustration over a lack of development in their area, threatening to vote NOTA (None of the Above) in the upcoming assembly elections if their demands are not met.

The meeting, organized by Katraj Vikas Aghadi, highlighted issues including insufficient water supply, traffic management, and the need for local facilities such as playgrounds, schools, and hospitals. Namesh Babar, president of the group, voiced disappointment with political parties, saying, “Katraj has over 1.12 lakh voters across three assembly constituencies, yet we have seen minimal development since our villages merged with the Pune Municipal Corporation 25 years ago.”

The citizens demanded a large water tank to ensure a 24/7 supply and more amenities like playgrounds and e-learning schools. The citizen group plans to hold additional meetings through November 15 and may consider supporting a candidate who commits to their development plan. However, if no party addresses their demands, the group warned that Katraj’s 1.2 lakh voters are prepared to opt for NOTA.
