Pune: Kharadi Residents Demand Accountability Through Affidavits and Banner Free Elections
Pune, December 25, 2025: As elections approach, housing societies and residents of Kharadi are taking a firm stand to bring accountability and responsibility into the electoral process.
This time, instead of merely listening to attractive promises and glossy manifestos, societies are planning to seek affidavits from candidates for the commitments they make during their campaigns.
During discussions, Residents highlighted a long-standing concern: before every election, candidates release big promises and catchy manifestos, but once elected, very little actually materializes on the ground. To break this cycle, many societies in Kharadi have decided that only those candidates who are willing to submit affidavits backing their manifestos will receive support. This step is aimed at ensuring legal accountability and seriousness toward public commitments.
Another key demand from residents is a banner-free public area as residents will appreciate those candidates who will follow the Law and rules set by PMC. Ironically, even before elections, several candidates have already started violating the Model Code of Conduct and PMC’s clear rules against banners in public places. This raises a critical question for citizens: How can voters trust candidates who openly break rules even before getting elected?
Residents believe that candidates who genuinely respect the law, support a banner-free city, and are willing to bind their promises through legal affidavits are the ones truly deserving of public support.
