Pune Camp, 25 November 2025: A significant extortion case has come to light after Kohinoor Hotel owner Ali Akbar Jafri accused local businessman Sameer Motilal Mujumdar of attempting to extort ₹18 crore by filing baseless complaints and reviving years-old property issues.

According to the FIR registered at Lashkar Police Station, Jafri stated that he had previously extended financial help to Mujumdar. However, after the support stopped, Mujumdar allegedly began targeting him by producing dubious Powers of Attorney and documents to reopen long-settled civil disputes.

The complaint also mentions that Mujumdar filed accusations claiming Jafri was residing in India on forged documents, an allegation the hotel owner has denied. Police officials said the businessman allegedly used these complaints as leverage to demand money.

Jafri informed investigators that he received multiple threats, including WhatsApp messages, pressuring him to pay a large amount in exchange for the withdrawal of the complaints.

Based on the allegations, police have registered a case against Mujumdar for extortion, criminal intimidation, and forgery.

Further investigation into the matter is underway.
