Pune: Kondhwa Police Arrest Mobile Phone Theft Suspect, Recover 11 Stolen Devices Worth ₹1.5 Lakh
Pune, June 11, 2026: Kondhwa Police have arrested a 21-year-old man involved in multiple mobile phone theft cases and recovered 11 stolen mobile phones worth approximately ₹1.5 lakh during a targeted operation.
According to police, a mobile phone theft case was registered at Kondhwa Police Station after a complainant reported that his phone had been stolen near a hotel on Salunkhe Vihar Road in Kondhwa on April 27, 2026.
During the investigation, members of the Kondhwa Police detection team received a tip-off that a youth wearing a blue shirt and jeans was attempting to sell stolen mobile phones near Parsi Ground in Shivneri Nagar, Kondhwa. Acting on the information, police rushed to the spot and detained the suspect.
The accused was identified as Umar Salim Shaikh (21), a resident of Shivneri Nagar, Kondhwa. During a search, police recovered a stolen Redmi Note 14 SE mobile phone from a plastic bag in his possession. Further interrogation revealed his involvement in multiple mobile phone theft cases registered in the city.
Police subsequently recovered a total of 11 stolen mobile phones valued at around ₹1.5 lakh from the accused. The recovery is expected to help solve several pending theft cases.
The operation was carried out under the guidance of senior officers of the Wanowrie Division and Kondhwa Police Station, with members of the detection team playing a key role in tracing and apprehending the suspect.
Further investigation is underway.
