Pune : Kondhwa Police Arrests A Person in Connection with Vehicle Theft

Pune: The Kondhwa Police has arrested a 44 years old man who was allegedly involved in vehicle theft in the Kondhwa area, said officials.

The accused has been identified as Ismail Shafi Syed (44) from Lakshmi nagar, in Kondhwa, was taken into custody. In the last week, a complaint was registered at the Kondhwa Police Station regarding the theft of a tempo.

Assistant Police Inspector Anil Suravse and his team conducted an investigation into the stolen vehicle.

According to police,they got information that the accused had been looking for customers to sell the stolen vehicles. Police officers from Kondhwa police station posed as potential buyers and contacted the suspect.

On May 8, police laid a trap of fake customers buying stolen vehicles and arrested the accused. Police told that during interrogation the accused confessed to his involvement in the vehicle thefts. As a result, six vehicles with a total value of Rs 5 lakh were seized from him.

Senior Police Inspector Santosh Sonawane said “Accused confessed that he had stolen five vehicles from Kondhwa and adjoining area and five cases regarding the same have been registered at Kondhwa police station.”
