Pune: The Kondhwa Police have taken stringent action against foreign nationals residing in Pune whose visas expired.

As per further information shared by Santosh Sonawane, Senior Police Inspector, Kondhwa Police, in Pune, Commissioner of Pune Police Ritesh Kumar, Deputy Commissioner of Police Sandeep Karnik and R Raja, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Special Branch had issued orders to take action against illegal foreigners residing in Pune.

According to the said order, Ranjan Kumar Sharma, Additional Commissioner of Police, East Regional Division, Vikrant Deshmukh, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Shahurao Salve, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Wanowrie Division, Santosh Sonwane, Senior Police Inspector, Kondhwa Police Station, Sanjay Mogle, Police Inspector, Crime and Sandeep Bhosale, Police Inspector, Crime, Police Officers of Anti-Terrorism Squad, Police Sub-Inspector Vaibhav Sonawane in Kondhwa Police Station, Assistant Police Inspector Yogita Kudale, Police Sub-Inspector Ratnadeep Birajdar, Police Constable Subhash Jarande, Female Police Constable Sangita Gherdikar, Parashuram Pise, Narayan Giri were keeping a watch on the foreign citizens living in the Kondhwa police station limits after getting information through a source.

The officials were also getting information about facts like are these foreign nationals living in the Kondhwa area have their visas valid or expired etc. On 11/10/2023, information was received that 4 foreign women from Uganda were hiding at Kanhaiya Society, Mohammadwadi even after their visas had expired. When the senior officers were informed about the matter, orders were given to take legal action against them.

Officers went to the Kanhaiya Society, Mohammadwadi along with the senior staff and from there detained foreigners, identified as Nalubega Sarah, Nakato Lydia, Nabunya Fatuma & Nambooza Aisha, and verified their visa and passport documents.

Upon investigation, it was found that 2 women had come to India for medical treatment and 2 women for tourism and they were hiding even though their visas expired one and a half years ago. The said women have been brought before the Police Commissioner’s Office, Pune City from the Foreign Nationals Branch (Special Branch-2) and have been placed in Mundhwa Women’s Reformatory until further legal action is taken.
