Mumbai, Oct 14 : National Congress Party (NCP) supremo Sharad Pawar expressed serious concern over the law-and-order situation in Maharashtra while slamming the present government that the rate of missing women and girls have increased recently.

Addressing a press conference at Yashwantrao Chavan Center in Mumbai here, he also commented on the fact that teachers are being recruited on a contractual basis by this government.

Pawar said that more than 19 thousand women and girls have gone missing from the state and the government should pay attention to this on priority basis.

Given the details about missing women in state he said that 19 thousand 553 women and girls went missing during the period of five months ( from January 1, 2023 to May 31, 2023) This includes 1453 girls under 18 years of age. After seeing this number, it is clear that the law and order situation in the state has not improved, alleged pawar.

” I am expecting that the state government and the Home Ministry will take serious note of this and devise a remedial plan in this issue”, pawar said.

He further said that the state government has decided to make recruitment of teachers in the state on contract basis. A delegation of teachers met me recently and raised their issues which the present government is not fulfilling.

Pawar also lambasted that Eknath Shinde led shiv- sena BJP and Ajit Pawar government have also decided to recruit in the police force on contract basis which will be only for 11 months, what will be next? He questioned.

He said that since the tenure of the contract system is 11 months, how will the responsibilities given be fulfilled ? He suggested that recruitment should be done on a permanent basis instead of the contract system and also said that there should be transparency in the system.
