Pune Man's "Catch Me If You Can" Dare Met With Police's "We Can, We Will" Response
What started as a casual moment at a petrol pump turned into a full-blown police chase—not on the streets, but on social media. A young biker in Pune ended up in police custody within hours after his friend posted a bold challenge to the authorities online, setting off a chain of events that neither of them saw coming.
A 21-year-old Pune resident, Rahil, found himself in the spotlight when a photo of him sitting on his Kawasaki Ninja began circulating on X. The issue wasn’t just the flashy bike—it was the illegally modified number plate that read “Will Run” instead of the official registration number.
The online drama began when Rahil’s friend Nitish K uploaded the image on X along with a daring caption that read “Catch me if you can”, directly tagging Pune Police. The photo, captured at a petrol pump in Kothrud, showed Rahil in a black hoodie and trousers seated confidently on the bright-green motorcycle. Nitish’s post also included a screenshot from Reddit where someone questioned how such modified plates manage to go unnoticed despite heavy surveillance in the city.

Pune Police quickly spotted the post and responded with a sharp reply:
“We can, and we will. Just a matter of time.”
They even added, “Watch this space for updates!”
And the update came sooner than anyone expected. Within just a few hours, police traced the rider and took Rahil into custody.

Following the arrest, Pune Police released a “before and after” update, including a video of Rahil—face blurred—offering an apology. In the clip, he admits,
“The police noticed it and caught me within an hour. I apologise for this mistake and urge others not to repeat it.”

We always keep our promises. 😉
Turns out the guy wasn't elusive enough. Played dangerous games, won dangerous prizes.#NoConsolationPrize#ChallengeCompleted#ElusionEndsHere#CaughtYou#AlwaysForPunekars#PunePolice@CPPuneCity https://t.co/zAoMI5Yld6 pic.twitter.com/mlAGVvz4ro
The police accompanied the video with a pointed message:
“Street’s not the place to play, boy! Turns out the guy wasn’t elusive enough. Played dangerous games, won dangerous prizes.”
Authorities also warned that using social media to provoke law enforcement or engaging in risky, illegal riding behaviour can lead to serious consequences. This incident comes soon after another viral case from Gurugram, where two men were seen drinking alcohol while riding a motorcycle—an act that also drew immediate police attention.
