Pune : Massive fire breaks out at Taljai Tekdi : Vigilant Residents Alert Fire Dept

Pune: A huge fire broke out at Taljai Tekdi in the Parvati area at around 6 pm on Wednesday. The fire brigade and forest department reached the spot on time and doused the fire successfully.
Speaking to Pune Pulse, Shilpa Danait, Resident, Sahakarnagar no 2 Pune stated, ” When I went for a walk on the tekdi, I saw some people pointing towards the fire. Trees were burning and it kept on increasing with every passing second. The fire department rushed to the spot to douse the fire. However, it was not coming under control. After a lot of effort, the fire personnel were able to douse the blaze.”
Nikhil Shinde, President, Namaskar Pratishthan, Pune said, “Trees are often found stolen on Taljai Tekdi. The fire broke out as some people were burning the leftover roots/branches of those trees. The fire intensified quickly as nearby trees also started burning. We immediately informed the fire department who were able to douse the fire at around 9.30 pm”
Nilesh Mahajan, Spokesperson, Fire Department, PMC, stated “The fire at Taljai Tekdi on Wednesday was massive. The fire was doused late in the evening after the successful efforts of the fire department. Apart from some trees, nothing else was damaged and no casualty took place.”
Pradip Sankpal, Range Forest Officer, Pune said, “Several people come to Taljai Tekdi for a walk or some relaxation. Hence, somebody from them might have ignited the fire. Still, our officers & fire department took utmost efforts to douse the fire.”
