Pune: Massive Water Leakage From Pashan Hill And Chandani Chowk Overhead Water Tank Sparks Anger; PMC Urged To Act
Pune, June 23, 2026: A major water leakage from a Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) drinking water reservoir on Pashan Hill has triggered concerns among residents, who have accused the civic body of ignoring repeated complaints despite the wastage of thousands of litres of water every day.
According to local resident Sameer Uttarkar, who has been consistently raising the issue with PMC for a long time, a significant amount of water has been leaking from the reservoir for several days. Despite multiple complaints being lodged with the civic administration, residents claim that no effective corrective measures have been taken so far.
Residents allege that while citizens are being asked to cope with water cuts and use water judiciously, the civic body has failed to prevent large-scale water wastage from its own infrastructure.
“Citizens are forced to endure water shortages, while thousands of litres of potable water are being wasted daily due to the administration’s inaction. This raises serious questions about accountability and water management,” residents said.
The issue has prompted calls for immediate intervention by PMC officials. Residents have urged the civic body to carry out urgent repairs, stop the leakage, and ensure that precious drinking water is not wasted.
Sameer Uttarkar appealed to PMC to address the problem without further delay, stating that citizens should not be taken for granted and that their patience is wearing thin as the leakage continues unchecked.
Residents have also tagged public representatives, including Murlidhar Mohol, Chandrakant Patil and Advocate Nilesh Narayan Nikam, seeking their intervention in resolving the issue.
