Pune Metro generates revenue of Rs 2.5 crores in 30 days

Pune: Since the commencement of the Pune Metro’s extended services, every weekend the Pune Metro has been experiencing record-breaking ridership. There has been a noticeable increase in commuter response. 

As per the information, Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad residents are choosing the metro as a convenient mode of transportation, especially on weekends. Since its inauguration, the metro has transported over 12.18 lakh passengers and generated ticket revenue of more than Rs 2.5 crore.

While talking to Pune Pulse, Hemant Sonawane, Pune Metro’s Public Relations Officer, added, ”As of August 27, 12.18 lakh people have utilized the service. On Independence Day, August 15, the metro witnessed an impressive ridership of 1,23,000 and collected a revenue of 30.63 lakhs.”

The extended metro service encompasses a 9.7-kilometre stretch from Vanaz to Ruby Hall, which previously served from Vanaz to Garware station. Additionally, the 13.9-km stretch from Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) to the civil court has commenced operations, replacing the road from Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation to Phugewadi.

Since the introduction of the extended line, Puneites have been actively choosing to travel by metro, particularly on holidays. As per the information provided, Metro’s busiest days have been recorded as follows:

  • August 5 (Saturday) recorded a ridership of 57,769 along with a revenue collection of Rs 9.54 lakh.
  • August 6 (Sunday) recorded a ridership of 96,569 along with a revenue collection of 16.43 lakhs.
  • August 12 (Saturday) recorded a ridership of 62,044 along with a revenue collection of 10.65 lakhs.
  • August 13 (Sunday) recorded a ridership of 92,389 along with a revenue collection of 17.20 lakhs
  • August 15 (Independence Day) recorded a ridership of 1,23,720 along with a revenue collection of 30.63 lakhs.
  • August 19 (Saturday) recorded a ridership of 55,297 along with a revenue collection of 9.21 lakhs.
  • August 20 (Sunday) recorded a ridership of 76,852 along with a revenue collection of 13.16 lakhs.
  • August 26 (Saturday) recorded a ridership of 53,833 along with a revenue collection of 8.96 lakhs.
  • August 27 (Sunday) recorded a ridership of 80,682 along with a revenue collection of 13.75 lakhs.
