Pune Metro Phase 2: Alignment Planning Begins for Hadapsar–Loni Kalbhor and Hadapsar–Saswad Road Routes
Pimpri-Chinchwad To Get Metro Boost As Nigdi–Chakan Corridor Planned In New DPR
Pune, February 10, 2026: Under Phase 2 of the Pune Metro expansion, the process to appoint a consultant for preparing the alignment design (layout plan) for the proposed Hadapsar–Loni Kalbhor and Hadapsar Bus Depot–Saswad Road metro sub-corridors has officially begun.
According to a report in Sakal, To improve suburban connectivity in eastern Pune, the Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation (MahaMetro) has initiated groundwork for the project. Tenders have been invited for appointing a design consultant, with March 4 set as the deadline. After qualification and evaluation based on technical and quality criteria, the selected consultant will be assigned the task of preparing the alignment plan within a 48-month timeline, MahaMetro officials stated.
These two sub-corridors are part of the Phase 2 expansion of the Khadakwasla–Swargate–Hadapsar–Kharadi metro route. Both routes have received approvals from the central and state governments.
The Hadapsar–Loni Kalbhor route (Corridor 4-B) will be 11.35 km long with 10 elevated stations.
The Hadapsar Bus Depot–Saswad Road route (Corridor 4-C) will span 5.57 km with 4 elevated stations.
Together, the expansion will cover nearly 17 km with 14 stations, effectively connecting eastern Pune to western Pune.
The tender process is for Detailed Design Consultancy (DDC) services, which will include detailed engineering design, station planning, construction strategy, projections, and related technical components. MahaMetro officials confirmed that after the consultant’s appointment, the Detailed Project Report (DPR) and subsequent implementation phases will be fast-tracked.

The project is expected to benefit residents of Hadapsar, Fursungi, Loni Kalbhor, and Saswad significantly. It will help reduce traffic congestion, travel time, and pollution in these rapidly growing corridors. Additionally, future plans include metro connectivity to the proposed Purandar International Airport, positioning this region as a key growth corridor in Pune’s urban development.
MahaMetro has prioritised Phase 2 expansion projects to strengthen safe and accessible public transport in the city. Steps have been initiated to appoint consultants to execute the Hadapsar–Loni Kalbhor and Hadapsar–Saswad metro projects.
