Mumbai, November 4, 2025: In a major boost to Pune’s public transport network, the state government has approved two new metro extensions — Hadapsar to Loni Kalbhor and Hadapsar Bus Depot to Saswad Road — under Pune Metro Phase 2 (Khadakwasla–Swargate–Hadapsar–Kharadi line).

The decision was finalized during the Cabinet Infrastructure Committee meeting held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis at Mantralaya. The announcement was made by Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, who confirmed that the approval marks the success of his continued efforts to expand metro connectivity in Pune district.

The two new corridors, spanning a total of 16 kilometers, will feature 14 elevated stations and will be implemented by Maha Metro at an estimated cost of ₹5,704 crore.

According to officials, these metro extensions will significantly reduce traffic congestion in eastern Pune while improving connectivity for fast-developing suburbs such as Hadapsar, Fursungi, Loni Kalbhor, and Saswad.

Deputy CM Pawar expressed confidence that the projects will provide quick, safe, and eco-friendly transport for lakhs of daily commuters, besides extending the metro network into rural and semi-urban areas.

The expansion is expected to save travel time, reduce pollution, and promote balanced regional development, marking another milestone in Pune’s journey toward becoming a well-connected metropolitan city.
