Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis Sets Strict Deadlines For 10 Major Infrastructure Projects, Including Pune Metro Line 3 And Mumbai Metro 2B
Mumbai, November 4, 2025 — In a major move to accelerate Maharashtra’s key infrastructure projects, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has issued firm directives to complete 10 major works within fixed deadlines. During a review meeting held at Sahyadri Guest House, Fadnavis emphasized the need to ensure timely completion using advanced technology and efficient planning.
Among the metro projects, the Mumbai Metro Line 2B (D.N. Nagar to Mandale, 19 stations) has been given a completion deadline of March 31, 2027, while the Swami Samarth Nagar–Vikhroli Line must be finished by December 31, 2026. The Pune Metro Line 3 (Maan–Hinjewadi–Shivajinagar corridor) is expected to be completed by March 31, 2026 under the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA).
The Chief Minister also reviewed the BDD Chawl redevelopment projects, directing that the Naigaon site be completed by June 2029, Worli by May 2029, and N.M. Joshi Marg by June 2031, declaring them essential projects.
Other key deadlines include completion of the Shivdi–Worli connector, Thane–Borivali twin tunnel, Uttan–Vasai Sea Link, and Orange Gate–Marine Drive urban tunnel, all to be executed with round-the-clock work schedules.
Additionally, the Airoli–Katainaka Freeway is expected to reduce travel time by 20 minutes, and the Vadpe–Thane Road (23.8 km) is to be completed by March 2026, a crucial link to the Samruddhi Mahamarg.
Expressing dissatisfaction over delays in the Bandra–Versova Sea Link, Fadnavis instructed contractors to deploy cutting-edge construction technologies. The Versova–Dahisar–Bhayandar Coastal Road is targeted for completion by December 30, 2028, following recent central government clearance for coastal land use.
