PUNE, August 28, 2023 – In a move aimed at ensuring the convenience of citizens during the upcoming Ganeshotsav celebrations in Pune, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has announced the extension of metro operating hours until midnight for the final five days of the festival. The decision comes as thousands of citizens from various parts of the city gather to participate in the annual Ganeshotsav festivities.

During a press conference held at the Police Headquarters in Shivajinagar, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar disclosed that the directive to extend metro service timings had been issued to the relevant authorities. The objective behind this extension is to alleviate any inconveniences that citizens might face while commuting during the festive period.

The planning for Ganeshotsav 2023 was a subject of discussion during a meeting chaired by Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and Guardian Minister Chandrakant Patil. Attended by key figures including MLA Madhuri Misal, Municipal Commissioner Vikram Kumar, Police Commissioner Ritesh Kumar, and officials from various Ganesh Mandals in the city, the meeting aimed to outline measures that would ensure a smooth and enjoyable celebration for all.

Addressing the gathering, Ajit Pawar acknowledged the numerous suggestions put forth by Ganesh Mandals and assured that the administration would actively consider these recommendations. He emphasized that the well-being of the workers and volunteers associated with Ganesh Mandals would be a priority, and steps would be taken to ensure their seamless engagement.

One significant challenge faced by the administration during Ganeshotsav is the prolonged duration of the immersion procession, which places strain on resources and logistics. To address this, Srimanta Dagdusheth Halwai Ganpati Mandal has made the commendable decision to partake in the immersion procession at 4:00 PM, a move that has garnered appreciation.

Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar concluded by expressing the administration’s commitment to ensuring a successful and vibrant Ganeshotsav celebration this year. The extended metro operating hours during the final five days of the festival are expected to contribute significantly to the overall convenience and enjoyment of both residents and visitors during this auspicious occasion.
