Pune: The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) has taken a stringent step by replacing the entire management at 818 examination centres where instances of copying were reported. This includes 125 centres within the Pune division. Additionally, the board has decided to revoke permissions for any centres where such incidents occur in the future.
MSBSHSE Chairperson Sharad Gosavi announced this decision on February 10 during a press conference addressing preparations for the upcoming Class 12 board exams, set to begin on February 11. He emphasized that these measures align with the state’s “copy-free exam movement,” initiated by the Chief Minister.
“The board has completely replaced the centre director, supervisors, and staff at these centres. Moving forward, permissions for centres found guilty of such malpractices will be permanently revoked,” Gosavi stated.
According to board data, a total of 1,505,037 students will appear for the Class 12 exams across 3,373 centres in Maharashtra, including 8.10 lakh boys, 6.94 lakh girls, and 37 transgender students.
To curb paper leaks and cheating, the board has adjusted exam protocols, allotting an extra 10 minutes at the end of each paper instead of the beginning. Additionally, 271 special squads have been deployed to monitor exam centres, ensuring strict compliance with regulations. Students have been instructed to arrive on time, as latecomers will not be allowed to enter.
Gosavi also announced that re-examinations for students who missed oral exams due to valid reasons will be conducted on March 12, 15, and 17. The board is coordinating with government agencies, including the district administration, transport department, security forces, and the Maharashtra State Electricity Supply Board, to ensure smooth conduct of the exams.
