PUNE: A multispecialty hospital with 75 to 100 beds will be constructed in Kausarbaug area of Kondhwa in NIBM – Mohammadwadi Prabhag of Pune Municipal Corporation under the DBFOT (Design, Build, Finance, Operate, and Transfer) model. The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has reserved a plot of land for this purpose and will provide the land to a private party to build and operate the hospital. The PMC’s Health Department has issued a call for proposals for this project.

As per the information provided, the hospital will cater to patients with various medical conditions, fulfilling the need for a healthcare facility in the area. The private organization selected will operate the hospital for a period of 30 years. This reservation of hospital is on 16 gunthas of land. The PMC expects the organization operating the hospital to reserve 10% of the beds for patients referred by the PMC and an additional 10% for CGHS (Central Government Health Scheme) patients.

The construction of the hospital is estimated to cost 360 crore, and the concerned organization plans to secure a loan from an international bank. The PMC will act as the guarantor for the contractor’s loan. Some political and social organizations, as well as former corporators, have raised concerns and opposition to this project. Despite the PMC’s support, the organization has faced difficulties in obtaining the loan and insurance. As a result, the proposal to build a hospital in Kausarbaug has been put forward. It is important to note that the PMC has declined to provide financial assistance, at least in the initial stages, for this project.
