Pune: A tragic road accident on the Pune-Mumbai Expressway claimed the lives of a cyber security expert and his driver on Friday morning. The incident occurred near Shirgaon when their car crashed into a stationary container truck.

The deceased have been identified as Sachin Mahendra Dedhia (46), a renowned cyber security and digital forensics expert from Borivali, Mumbai, and his driver Parmeshwar Shivling Vhandrav (57), a resident of Dharashiv. Dedhia was en route to Pune to deliver a lecture on Artificial Intelligence to a group of chartered accountants scheduled for Saturday.

According to the Shirgaon police, the accident took place around 8.30 am when the car rammed into the rear of a container truck parked on the roadside in a hazardous manner, without any warning signs or precautions. The impact of the collision was so severe that both Dedhia and Vhandrav died on the spot.

Ritesh Lakshmichand Mamaniya (41), a relative of Dedhia, lodged the First Information Report (FIR) at the Shirgaon police station under the Pimpri Chinchwad police jurisdiction.

Police have arrested the container truck driver, Pravinkumar Pandya (39) of Rajasthan, for alleged negligence. He has been booked under sections 106 (1) and 324 (5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with relevant provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act.

Investigating Officer PSI Ashok Kendre stated that the truck was parked illegally on the expressway, which directly led to the fatal crash.

Dedhia was widely respected in his field as a certified ethical hacker and cyber security expert. Originally from Kachchh in Gujarat, he had settled in Borivali with his family.
