Pune : In a disturbing incident, the Pune City police have registered a case against a neurologist accused of molesting a female patient during a medical examination at his clinic.

The incident was reported on 29 November at Mukund Nagar.

The victim filed a formal complaint at the Swargate police station on Thursday, detailing the alleged incident. According to her, Dr Shripad Pujari is a neurologist and practising in Mukund Nagar area.

On Wednesday evening when the victim visited his clinic for consultation on her migraine issue. The victim claimed that there was no female attendant present at the clinic during her visit, and she claimed that the accused took advantage of the situation to molest her.

Acting promptly on her statement, the police invoked section 354 (a) (sexual harassment) of the Indian Penal Code and initiated legal proceedings against the accused doctor.

Police Sub-Inspector Kirti Chate, assigned to investigate the case, confirmed that no arrests have been made thus far. However, she assured that a thorough and comprehensive inquiry is underway to ascertain the facts surrounding the alleged molestation.
