A 62-year-old woman from Parvati fell prey to a sophisticated parcel scam, losing ₹25.5 lakh to cyber crooks. On October 9, she received a call from a person claiming to be a courier company executive in New Delhi.

The impersonator alleged that someone used her Aadhaar number to send a parcel to Thailand containing illicit substances, passports, and credit cards. The caller then connected her to a supposed cybercrime official, threatening her with a seven-year jail term unless she cooperated.

The fraudsters convinced her to liquidate mutual funds and transfer ₹25.42 lakh to her savings account, promising RBI investigation and return of her money. After transferring the amount via RTGS, the callers stopped responding.

The Parvati police have launched an investigation. This incident highlights cyber scams targeting senior citizens.
