On April 17, in a tragic incident at a construction site in Pune’s Kondhwa NIBM Annex area in Raheja Sterling Tower A4 society, two unidentified individuals fatally stabbed a supervisor before tossing his body from the fifth floor into a duct. The victim, identified as Pankaj Kumar Moti Kashyap, aged 35 and a resident of Krishnanagar, Mohammadwadi, was originally from Uttar Pradesh and employed as a supervisor at the construction site.

As per information, a press release was sent out by the PRO Office, Crime Branch, Pune City on April 23, 2024, which stated that while there was no clue in the said crime, the police, with their technical skills and tireless hard work, arrested the accused within twenty-four hours.

At the Kondhwa Police Station, a case was filed under Section 302, (punishment for murder) Criminal Reg. No. 423/24 against an unidentified individual.

It is worthy to note that several body parts were stabbed multiple times, most notably the stomach and later the body was forced down the pressure duct. After reviewing this case, a senior inspector gave the go-ahead to start the investigation. Santosh Sonwane, Mansig Patil, Lekhaji Shinde, and Balaji Dingole, together with their investigative team, set out to find the accused.

It was soon discovered that Raj, originally known as Suresh Maniram Arya, was one of the suspects and that on the night of the murder, he and a few other labourers had escaped to Uttar Pradesh. After questioning the labourers, it was discovered that, while he was previously employed in Uttar Pradesh, the two of them had jointly purchased land in their hometown village. The land was registered in the late Pankaj Kumar Moti Kashyap’s name, and he had objected to Raj receiving a share of it.

Following a technical investigation and inspection of the CCTV footage from the road outside the site, it was determined that the accused and 26-year-old Bholanath Rajaram Arya had been staying in the construction site’s labour camp to deceive the police. After being taken into custody and interrogation, he soon admitted to committing the crime alongside the accused Suresh.
