In Mulshi taluka, a routine arrest took a scary turn when Mangesh Palve, a 32-year-old wanted criminal, used his pet pitbull to resist arrest. Palve, known for his criminal record, made the situation more intense by breaking windows, resorting to violence, and even hurting himself with a beer bottle. The standoff ended when Palve, realizing the seriousness, surrendered to avoid potential police action.

Assistant Inspector Sudhir Kadam from Paud police shared details of the incident. Palve faced charges, including murder, attempted murder, and illegal firearms possession, with recent release on bail under the Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime (MCOCA)Act.

Police got information on Palve’s involvement in an armed robbery where he allegedly stole Rs 11,000 at gunpoint in Rihe. When the police arrived the next morning to arrest him, Palve unleashed his aggressive pitbull, creating a challenge for the officers.

Faced with the threat of the unleashed dog, the police couldn’t enter Palve’s residence. They considered calling the forest department to tranquilize the animal, but unexpectedly, Palve surrendered around 11 am, avoiding the need for additional measures.

Further investigations revealed more criminal activities by Palve, including another robbery and an assault with a sharp weapon. Consequently, a separate case of attempted murder is being registered against him.

Palve appeared in court on Sunday and has been remanded in police custody until Tuesday. Authorities are working on addressing the legal consequences of his actions and ensuring public safety after this intense incident.
