Pune News : Chandrakant Patil asks PMC to complete water supply project for Baner, Balewadi, Mhalunge, Pashan, Sutarwadi, and Sus areas within time

Pune: Baner, Balewadi, Mhalunge, Pashan, Sutarwadi and Sus residents in Pune have been struggling with inadequate water supply for years. However, in a recent meeting help with the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) where Pune’s Guardian Minister Chandrakant Patil and PMC Commissioner Vikram Kumar were present, PMC Water Department Head, Aniruddha Pawaskar, gave a progress update on the 24×7 Water Supply Project. Residents of these area attended the meeting.

Pawaskar reported that 3.62 kilometers of pipeline was yet to be laid down, and all necessary permissions and NOCs have been obtained. He expects the project to be completed by the end of April 2023. The PMC Commissioner, Vikram Kumar, asked citizens to bear with them until the project’s completed. The Guardian Minister, Chandrakant Dada, requested that the PMC may take an additional one month but will complete the project by the end of May.

Ramesh Rokade spoke on behalf of the Balewadi Welfare Federation, explaining the hardships the residents have faced due to the water shortage. He requested free tankers to be provided until the PMC’s permanent water supply is in place, and citizens are no longer reliant on tankers.

In response, the Minister Chandrakant Patil assured citizens of one or two drinking water tankers per society.

Meanwhile, Guardian Minister Chandrakantada Patil urged officials to prioritize the minimum needs of Pune residents as the city’s population rapidly grows. He directed that the 24×7 uniform water supply scheme in Baner, Balewadi, Pashan, Sutarwadi, and new water supply works in Sus and Mhalunge should be completed quickly.

Patil inspected the Baner-Balewadi water supply channel and pumping work, inquiring about water leakage prevention measures. He also appealed to citizens to use water sparingly and avoid using drinking water for activities like car washing and construction.
