Chikhali : Residents of several societies in the Chikhali area of Pimpri Chinchwad are facing acute water shortage for the last 15 days. Despite repeated complaints and follow-ups with the water supply department officials, there has been no improvement in the situation.

The affected societies include Patil Nagar, Bagwasti, Dehu-Alandi Road, River Residency, Aishwaryam Hamara Society, Crystal Pearl and Millennium Paramount.

Sanjeevan Sangle, the Chairman of Chikhali-Moshi Pimpri Chinchwad Cooperative Housing Societies’ Federation, “Members of all our societies are honestly paying taxes. However, it is a matter of regret that every year we face a short supply of water in summer. Somewhere, it seems that the connivance of the water supply authorities of Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation and the tanker lobby is behind this, hence artificial water scarcity is being created.”

Despite two phone discussions with the concerned officials, the residents have not received any assurance of improved water supply. In response to this, the residents have threatened to organize a program to distribute water supply to the inactive officers of the water supply department and to take out a handa march in front of their office, if the water supply is not streamlined in the next two days.
