Pune News: E-vehicle charging facilities at Pune railway station ro start soon

Pune: The railway authorities are planning to set up electric vehicle charging points at the railway station in Pune.
Speaking to Pune Pulse, Dr Ramdas Bhise, Divisional Commercial Manager (DCM) and PRO Pune Railways said, “Feasibility of EV charging facilities at Pune Railway and other stations will be assessed by supervisor level staffs consisting of the commercial, engineering and electrical department. The contract will be outsourced and all installation costs have to be paid by the agency. Once the feasibility report is received, the tender will be done through e-auction. Normally, it takes one month to start the process after tendering.”
As per the information, the facility will be beneficial for owners of electric vehicles as there is a rise in their numbers. Currently, over 88,000 electric vehicles (EVs) are registered in Pune and the surrounding areas.
Recently, a new fully-equipped baby feeding room has been opened at the railway station in the women’s waiting room. This room can also be closed from inside as well as outside for greater safety. The baby feeding room is equipped with a chair, a table, a fan, a light, and other facilities. This room has been installed separately from the waiting room.
