Pune News: Hinjawadi Police Rescue Kidnapped Man In Cross-State Operation, Three Arrested
In a coordinated operation, the Hinjawadi Police and Anti-Extortion Unit successfully rescued a kidnapped man and arrested three suspects after a cross-state (Jharkhand And Maharashtra Police) search. The incident began when the abducted man’s son reported his father’s disappearance on October 18, 2024, following an extortion demand of ₹1 crore, with threats to harm the victim.
The police swiftly launched an investigation, led by Commissioner of Police Pimpri Chinchwad Vinoy Chaubey, additional commissioner Vasant Pardeshi and Deputy Commissioner Sandeep Doifade. The probe revealed that the abducted person was taken to Kolkata by a coconut water vendor. Officers then travelled to Jharkhand and West Bengal, with technical analysis identifying key suspects.
The operation culminated in a raid at Paat Gauldhab Island, where two accused, Naseem Manirul Haque Akhtar and Lallu Rustam Shaikh, were arrested, and the abducted person was safely rescued. Another accused, Sajim Karim Bablu Shaikh, was later apprehended in Kalyan. Three accomplices escaped by jumping into the Ganga River.
The successful rescue was facilitated by joint efforts between the Pune police and Jharkhand authorities. The investigation is ongoing, with the police actively searching for the remaining suspects.
