A shocking incident of domestic violence has come to light in Yerawada, where a husband stabbed his wife over a trivial dispute about buying chillies to make mirchi thecha (crushed green chilli chutney). According to the police complaint, a 43 year old man asked his wife to make “thecha” (a spicy Maharashtrian chutney).

She replied, “You buy the chillies, and I’ll make it.” However, this seemingly harmless response enraged husband, who allegedly stabbed his wife near her left eye. Their son, Nivan (name changed), intervened, and he threatened to harm him as well.

The incident highlights the alarming rise in domestic violence cases sparked by minor disputes. Yerawada police have registered a case against the husband  and further investigation is underway. This disturbing incident underscores the need for greater awareness and action against domestic violence.
