Pune, November 5, 2024: Hadapsar, a fast-developing region on Pune’s eastern outskirts, faces mounting issues, particularly with traffic congestion, limited sewage infrastructure, illegal constructions, narrow roads, and a lack of parks and sports facilities. The area’s location on the main route to Solapur and Nagar Road has compounded traffic woes, causing major bottlenecks for residents commuting in and out of Hadapsar.

The population in Hadapsar constituency has surged with the inclusion of new villages like Mundhwa, Keshavnagar, Sadesatra Nali, Katraj, Fursungi, and Uruli within Pune’s municipal limits. Despite this expansion, resources have not kept pace, leaving residents without sufficient drinking water, adequate sewage systems, or effective waste management solutions. In response, the state government has recently ordered the formation of independent municipal councils for Uruli Devachi and Fursungi, a process now underway.

In addition to traffic congestion on the Pune-Solapur National Highway and the Pune-Pandharpur Palkhi route, residents and office-goers from IT hubs like Magarpatta City and Amanora Park face significant delays, especially during peak hours. This issue has been raised in the state legislature, but a permanent solution remains elusive.

The long-stalled widening of the Katraj-Kondhwa Road is another critical issue. While this project’s completion could alleviate traffic, delays have frustrated residents who feel Hadapsar often receives insufficient funding and priority. Moreover, waste management projects have raised concerns over health and environmental impact.

Residents also express frustration over the lack of a standalone municipal body for Pune’s eastern areas to address specific local issues. They feel representatives have yet to take decisive action, leaving them grappling with these growing problems.

Key Issues:
– Persistent traffic congestion
– Delayed widening of Katraj-Kondhwa Road
– Controversial waste management projects
– Illegal constructions in merged villages
– Insufficient and low-pressure water supply
