Ravet Hit-and-Run Case: Driver Arrested Four Days After Fatal Collision
Pimpri: In a tragic hit-and-run incident on Lakshmi Poojan day, Soham Jayeshkumar Patel, a 38-year-old software engineer, was struck and killed by a speeding car while setting off fireworks near the entrance of his housing society in Ravet. The impact was so severe that Patel was thrown to the roadside, resulting in a fatal head injury. Police officers responded quickly, but Patel was declared dead upon arrival at a nearby hospital.
The driver fled the scene without stopping. However, police were able to track him down by reviewing footage from 80 CCTV cameras in the vicinity, leading to his arrest on Monday. The incident took place outside the Felicity Society around 9 p.m. on November 1. Following the accident, Bhondve, who was driving towards the Aundh-Ravet BRT Road, did not wait at the scene, causing further distress to Patel’s grieving family.
Inspector Nitin Fatangare shared that Patel, who worked at a private firm in Hinjewadi’s IT Park, lived with his parents, wife, and child in Felicity Society. The case is currently being investigated by Officer Purushottam Chate, and the arrest has brought some closure to the bereaved family, who are still reeling from the sudden loss on a festive day.
