Pune News: BJP Leader Amol Balwadkar Alleges Vendetta Politics After IT Raids On Brother-in-Law's House
The political climate in Pune is heating up as former Kothrud corporator and BJP leader Amol Balwadkar has openly defied Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Patil. This rebellion came after Balwadkar was denied the party ticket from Kothrud constituency, which was instead given to Patil.
Balwadkar’s dissatisfaction with the party’s treatment has been vocal, stating that he has been expelled from the party he has worked for over the past decade. “Give me a ticket or not, but don’t treat me like this,” he expressed, criticizing BJP leaders for not attending his events.
Recently, the Income Tax Department raided the residence of Abhijit Katke, Balwadkar’s brother-in-law, in Katkewadi, Wagholi area. The reason behind the raid remains unknown, sparking speculation and raised eyebrows. This development has led to discussions in political circles, suggesting that this may be a strategic move ahead of the Legislative Assembly elections.
Balwadkar alleged that democracy within the BJP is under threat due to Patil’s actions. He questioned why he was being treated differently, citing his interest in contesting from Kothrud constituency and comparing it to Girish Bapat’s constituency, where activists were treated with respect.
Before the announcement of the BJP’s first list, state president Chandrashekhar Bawankule met with aspirants from Pune city constituencies to address grievances. However, even Bawankule’s personal visit to Balwadkar’s residence failed to alleviate his displeasure.
As the assembly polls approach, it remains to be seen how Balwadkar’s rebellion will impact the political landscape in Pune. Will he continue to challenge Patil, or will the party find a way to reconcile their differences? only time will tell.
