A shocking incident of robbery has come to light in the Kothrud area of Pune, where an elderly woman was robbed of gold ornaments, cash, and a mobile phone worth Rs 1.56 lakh. The perpetrator, identified as Sonali, allegedly spiked the victim’s lemon syrup with a sedative, rendering her unconscious, before making off with her valuables.

According to the police complaint filed by the victim at Alankar police station, the incident occurred on September 27. The elderly woman, a resident of Dandekar Pool area, was approached by Sonali in front of Mirch Masala Hotel in Kothrud. Sonali offered to help the woman find employment and gained her trust.

After gaining the woman’s confidence, Sonali offered her lemon syrup laced with a sedative, causing the woman to lose consciousness. Sonali then took the woman on her bike to Hadapsar area, where she stole the valuables and left the woman in Bhekrainagar area.

This incident bears an eerie resemblance to a similar crime reported in Bibvewadi area a few months ago, where a woman was arrested for robbing victims by luring them with job opportunities and spiking their drinks.
