Pune: Residents of Lohegaon are troubled with the unavailability of basic facilities such as proper roads, proper drainage systems, insufficient water supply, absence of street lights, and more.

Speaking to Pune Pulse, Dipak Khandve, a resident of Lohegaon, said “We have not have basic facilities over here for a very long time. Roads are very shabby & improper. A plethora of potholes keep developing from them. The drainage line is not proper. Street lights are not there. I live on Lohegaon-Wagholi Road. Imagine what could happen if these roads do not have proper street lights. When a power cut happens, electricity doesn’t get restored for 4 to 8 hours. Hence, the overall situation is very critical.”

Vijay Nimgire, a resident of Lohegaon said, “Basic facilities such as roads, electricity supply, water supply, drainage lines, street lights, etc. are not there. During power cuts, electricity is restored after 3 to 4 hours. Water supply doesn’t come every day. Roads have become weak and have developed potholes. I live in the Sant Nagar area of Lohegaon. It gets pitch dark here due to no street lights. How shall we live in such hazardous conditions?”

Rahul Kalbhor, a resident of Lohegaon said, “I have been living in the Datta Mandir area in Lohegaon since my childhood. For many years, there are no basic facilities here. Water supply comes only once every 5 to 6 days. Roads have developed potholes. Street lights are not there. Proper drainage system is not there.”

Sagar Khandve, President of NCP Youth Congress Vadgaon Sheri Constituency said, “Even though Lohegaon was merged by PMC last year, people still have major problems like bad roads and no drainage. People don’t even have access to clean water. The roads are really rough for commuters, and the city hasn’t put up any street lights yet, so people have to drive around at night in the dark.”

As per information shared by Sagar Khandve, on behalf of Nationalist Youth Congress, a statement was made to Pune City Municipal Commissioner Vikram Kumar. At this time, after discussing in detail about the facilities in Lohegaon, the village was included under PMC jurisdiction 6 years ago and all kinds of tax were started like other areas in the Pune municipal area, but the facilities in Lohegaon are not according to the taxes taken from residents.

Ashish Mane, President of NCP Vadgaon Sheri Constituency said, “The people living in Lohegaon pay taxes according to the rules of a developed city, but the development of Lohegaon is still on the drawing board. So, until Lohegaon gets all the basic facilities it needs, the government should lower the taxes. That’s what we’ve asked the PMC Commissioner Vikram Kumar.”
