The Cabinet has given its approval to several key projects that are set to benefit various regions. The Khadakwasla-Phursungi Tunnel, costing Rs 2200 crore, will significantly enhance Pune City’s water supply. This project will be a major boon for the area.  The Water Resources Department has developed a detailed project report for a 28-km tunnel between Khadakwasla dam and Phursungi, which has been approved by the Chief Engineer and State Level Technical Advisory Committee. The project, estimated to cost around Rs. 1,500 Cr, will help save around 2.5 TMC. The Department of Water Resources will draw water from Khadakwasla dam to Phursungi through a ‘D’ shaped tunnel measuring 7.80 m width, 3.90 m height  and 1.950 m circular height . The length of the canal will be 28 km. With this tunnel, the capacity of the canal will be  1510 cusecs and all the water will be transported to Phursungi by gravitational force. This will help in preserving 2.5 TMC of water by preventing water pollution, leakage and evaporation.

In addition, the Cabinet has approved the establishment of a new corporation specifically for senior citizens. This initiative is expected to benefit over 1.25 crore elderly people. Furthermore, a sum of ₹4000 will be allocated to the honorariums of group leaders in the state.

The Cabinet has also approved a revised expenditure of ₹25.75 crore for the construction of the Olympic Wrestler Late Pai. Khashaba Jadhav Residential Wrestling Complex in Golevshwar, Taluka Karad, Satara district.

The Thane cluster project will receive ₹5000 crore in funding. Additionally, the Cabinet will provide full scholarships to 763 students from BARTI. There is also a focus on expediting the completion of stalled slum rehabilitation projects in Mumbai.

These decisions are expected to have a substantial impact on infrastructure, senior citizen welfare, and education across the state.
