Pune News : Man caught using fake MLA car sticker for free movement

A recent incident has come to light where a man from Saswad was caught using a fake MLA (Member of Legislative Assembly) car sticker to enjoy free movement and privileges. Man was booked by Pune rural police on Sunday.

The man, identified as Ruturaj Laxman Gaikwad who is 22 years old and resident of Kalewadi.According to police, had affixed a counterfeit MLA car sticker on his vehicle’s windshield, which falsely claimed that he was a member of the local legislative assembly. The fake sticker had been carefully crafted to resemble the official MLA sticker, complete with the emblem of the legislative assembly and a fake MLA designation.

Upon further investigation, it was revealed that Ruturaj Gaikwad had been using the fake MLA sticker for several months to avoid paying toll fees, parking charges, and other levies. He had been brazenly taking advantage of the perks and privileges reserved for MLAs, such as unrestricted movement in restricted zones and exemptions from certain traffic rules.

The police, upon discovering the fake sticker, immediately booked Gaikwad and further investigations are underway.

Speaking about the incident, senior police inspector Annasaheb Gholap said, “As we came to know that one youth in the locality using fake MLA sticker on his Creta car after the confirmation we have booked him under 419 of IPC and Emblems and Names (Prevention of Improper Use) Act, 1950 and further investigation is going on.’’
