Pune: The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) Pune has requested the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) to take strict legal action against shops that have not installed Marathi signboards on their shops.

As per information from a letter by Sainath Babar, MNS Pune City President, it has come to the notice of the MNS that the signboards on the shops and establishments in Pune city and its suburbs are not in Marathi language and according to the provisions of the Maharashtra shop & establishment act, it is mandatory to have the signboards on the shops and establishments in Marathi language only.

The letter further states that many shopkeepers and establishments are in gross violation of the prevailing legal provisions. The matter is very serious and the PMC office is turning a blind eye to it. It seems that the PMC officials are not proud of the Marathi language and do not have a sense of their duty.

The letter further says that the order of the Supreme Court to make all the boards in the Marathi language within two months is expiring on November 25, 2023. According to the decision given by the Supreme Court, although it has been decided that the signboards on the shops should be in Marathi language, with respect to the Supreme Court, the PMC should take action against all the shopkeepers and establishments in Pune city and suburbs and ensure all signboards of shops should be in Marathi language in large letters.

Through the letter, the MNS Party has informed that the local administration should immediately take legal action against the violators otherwise MNS will carry out a strong agitation & protest.
