Pimpri-Chinchwad: Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) is taking steps towards merging the water tax collection system with the tax collection department of PCMC with aim to keep all the tax collection process under one roof.

PCMC is finding it difficult to collect the water tax arrears from the citizens as at few societies the collective meters are installed while few societies have individual water meter. Whereas, the taxation and tax collection department is collecting the property taxes from every citizen.

Therefore, by studying the measures taken by other Municipal Corporations in the State, which are following the same strategy, PCMC administration is taking similar steps towards it. Meetings in this regard was held between PCMC officials and Additional Commissioner Pradeep Jambale.

Property tax department’s Assistant Commissioner Nilesh Deshmukh, said, “This is an attempt to bring all tax collection under one roof. Therefore, we are planning to merge the water tax collection system into property tax collection department of PCMC. Currently, we are only planning but the system will be implemented  from April 1.”

“We have only made a proposal about giving the Tax collection department the responsibility of collecting water tax as well. Yet we have not taken any decision but we have conducted meeting to discuss about this,” informed Shrikant Savne head of water collection department.
