Pune News : Over 50 students hospitalized after eating food at Coaching center; probe on

In a concerning turn of events, over 50 students, including both boys and girls, were rushed to the hospital after showing symptoms of food poisoning at a residential coaching facility in Pune’s Khed taluka. The incident occurred at the Dakshana Foundation, where underprivileged students are rigorously prepared for the competitive IIT-Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) and National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET).

Located in Kadus village, approximately 55 km from Pune City, the coaching center caters to around 600 students aged between 18 to 20 years, with 400 boys and 200 girls actively engaged in their exam preparations.

According to Inspector Rajkumar Kendre of the Khed police station, the students experienced a sudden onset of symptoms including headaches, nausea, diarrhea, fever, and body aches in the early hours of Saturday, following dinner served on Friday night. 

Swift action was taken, with 60 students promptly hospitalized for medical attention. As of Sunday morning, eight students remain under observation in the hospital, although their condition is reported to be stable.

Authorities have wasted no time in launching a thorough investigation into the matter. Statements from both students and officials at the Dakshana Foundation have been recorded, and samples of the food served have been sent for testing. Results from food inspectors are eagerly awaited to determine the exact cause of the food poisoning incident.

The safety and well-being of students are paramount, and the authorities are leaving no stone unturned in ensuring a swift resolution to this concerning situation.
