Pune News: Pimple Saudagar Residents Raise Alarm Over Water Crisis

Pimpri-Chinchwad, February 18: The residents of multiple housing societies along Kunal Icon Road have expressed growing frustration over the persistent water supply issues, urging the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) to intervene on priority.

Roseland Residency resident Prashant Dhakane highlighted the problem, stating that societies in the area are facing an acute water shortage. He emphasized the need to escalate the issue to the PCMC Commissioner for immediate resolution.

A resident from Dwarka Suncrest Phase 2 and 3 confirmed that societies have already resorted to water tankers, yet the supply remains inadequate. “If I’m not mistaken, the amount of water per flat is far lower than what is allocated on paper. Do we have any solution?” she questioned.

The crisis is not new, with Siddhivinayak Ginger society resident Virendra Chavan pointing out that the issue has persisted for 18 years. “There has been no political will to resolve this. Every election, we hear commitments from politicians, but nothing concrete has been done,” he remarked.

Residents are now demanding immediate action from PCMC authorities to ensure a consistent and adequate water supply. Many are contemplating a formal complaint or a collective appeal to push for a long-term resolution.

With no concrete solutions in sight, the situation remains a significant concern for the affected societies, who continue to rely on expensive private tankers to meet their daily water needs.

A resident of Roseland Residency informed us that the summer is yet to approach and in mid February only we are dependent on tanker water. The financial management of the housing societies is already going for a toss with such erratic water supply.

Pune Pulse spoke to PCMC water department official D D Patil he stated that supply was disrupted for sometime due to maintenance and repair in Bhosari and Sector 23 areas about a few days ago. The backlog has not been recovered fully and we are aware of the situation of Pimple Saudagar societies facing water shortage. The water supply should resume like before within the next 2 to 3 days.
