Pune News : PMC announces ₹ 9515 crores budget for year 2023-24 

Pune: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) Budget for 2023-24 was presented by Commissioner Vikram Kumar on Friday, March 24 at ₹ 9515 crores, an increase of one thousand crores from last year’s budget. The increase is mainly due to the inclusion of 23 new villages.

The budget provides maximum provision for water supply, with ₹ 1321 crore allocated for it, followed by decontamination at ₹ 812 crores, and solid waste management at ₹ 846 crores. Transport planning and projects are allocated at ₹ 590 crores, while primary and secondary education in Pune city is allocated at ₹ 468 crore rupees, and at ₹ 505 crore rupees for health.

Additionally, eight new flyovers will be constructed to solve the traffic congestion problem in Pune, and a Multi Specialty Hospital in Warje, Sinhagad Road Flyover, and River Rejuvenation Project will be undertaken. There are also plans to set up a dog park, hydro power plant, charging station, and hydrogen project from waste.

The budget aims to provide infrastructure to the newly included villages in the municipal limits through coordination between Pune Metropolitan Area Development Authority (PMRDA) and PMC. A detailed review of development projects in Pune city and district is planned in the first week of April after the convention.

Pune Municipal Commissioner and Administrator Vikram Kumar, said, “In last year’s Pune Municipal Corporation budget many projects such as Mazi vasundra, e-mobility, swachh Bharat, JICA, riverfront rejuvenation projects were approved and to give momentum to these projects the provision are made in this budget too. Whereas in this budget provisions are made for two big major issues of Pune that is traffic congestion and hawkers. Alongwith this for the newly included villages, to provide basic infrastructure funds have been sanctioned for various projects. This year for water supply highest provision is being made with goal of completing the work of 24 by 7 water supply scheme.”
