The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has decided to make daily operations online. For this, the use of the ‘e-office’ system has been started in PMCs like the central and state governments.
Speaking to Pune Pulse, Rahul Jagtap, System Manager, IT Department, PMC, said, “All daily operations of the PMC will happen digitally. Physical files get created of any administrative work happening in the PMC which are sent for approval etc. Such daily operations have been happening offline. However, we have decided to implement the online ‘e-office’ system to avoid any hassles or delays such as taking physical printouts, creating files, papers, files, documents, etc getting damaged or lost, and more.”
Jagtap further added that the ‘e-office’ system is being implemented in state government, central government offices, etc. The system is created by the National Informatics Centre (NIC) which can be used universally.

Jagtap further added that as the PMC has begun usage of the system for one month, till now, login IDs of 450 users have been created. Till now, in 16 PMC departments, file making, tendering and other works are going on through this method. In the remaining departments, the system will be implemented in the next two months, and the PMC administration will be working 100 percent online.
Jagtap continued that due to giving personalized training about the system to every officer of every department of the PMC, implementing the system in the entire PMC is taking this much time. Still, the PMC operations will be fully ‘digitized’ soon.
